PHILADELPHIA – Post scored the final seven points, all on free throws in the closing 2:20, handing the HFU men's basketball team a 55-62 loss on Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center.
Individual Highlights
- Eric Esposito (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell Egan) led all players with a season-high 18 points (4-of-6 3-pointers), three steals and three blocks
- Those three steals moved him into 10th in program history with 127 for his career
- Rick'Keem Mixson (Linden, N.J./St. Mary of the Assumption (Raritan Valley CC)) registered his first career double-double with 10 points and a career-best 10 rebounds, the latter of which led the Tigers
- David Robinson Jr. (Philadelphia, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) fell one board shy of his eighth double-double of the season with 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting
- Tazir Cantey (Lindenwold, N.J./Eastern Regional) led Holy Family with four assists, to go along with eight points on 4-of-6 shooting
- Aamir Hurst (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann Goretti) added seven points

- HFU shot 49.0 percent (24-of-49), while holding Post to 37.9 percent (22-of-58), but the Eagles made 13 free throws (on 16 attempts) compared to the Tigers' two (nine)
- Holy Family outscored Post 18-0 in fastbreak points but lost the turnover battle 9-18, leading to a 4-13 deficit in points off turnovers
How it Happened
First Half
- HFU trailed by six, 7-13, seven and a half minutes into the action, before Cantey and Esposito combined for the first 16 points in an 18-5 surge that put the Tigers ahead 25-18 when a Robinson Jr. layup capped 11 unanswered with 5:40 left
- Esposito's driving layup then completed a 17-3 stretch for a game-high 10-point advantage, 31-20, 3:06 prior to the break
- Post responded with the final seven points of the half to make the score 31-28 entering the locker room
Second Half
- The Eagles then opened the second with a 3-pointer, and the two teams traded points until a 7-0 flurry ended with a Hurst triple establishing a 42-37 cushion with 14:33 to go
- Back-to-back 3-pointers by Esposito then put Holy Family on top 48-41 with 11:49 showing
- Post scored nine of the next 10 points though, going ahead 49-50 with 6:48 remaining, before Mixson's driving layup nine seconds later gave Tigers their last lead
- Jumpers by Hurst and Mixson at the 4:28 and 2:47 marks tied the score at 53 and 55, respectively, but the latter would be HFU's final point
- The Eagles scored the last seven over the closing 2:20, all on free throws
