The HFU volleyball team received two of the four Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) weekly awards on Tuesday, as
Faith Zehnder (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood) was named Defensive Player of the Week and
Isabella Mosquera (West Chicago, Ill./Saint Charles East) was selected as the Rookie of the Week.
Â
Zehnder is now a four-time CACC Defensive Player of the Week, while Mosquera receives her first career weekly honor from the league.Â
Â
Zehnder averaged 5.22 digs per set across three matches last week, posting a match-high in two of them.Â
Â
After beginning the week with seven at unbeaten West Chester on Tuesday, the junior totaled 40 in just six sets of a tri-match on Saturday.
Â
Zehnder had nine more digs than any other player with 24, two shy of her career-high, in the opener versus Kutztown, before adding 16 in the nightcap, HFU's first win of the season over Southern Connecticut State. Â
Â
Mosquera led all three matches in blocks last week, averaging 1.78 per set while also contributing 2.89 kills per set on .370 hitting.
Â
The freshman began the week with four blocks, three of which were solo, while tying a season-best with six kills on .417 hitting at West Chester.Â
Â
Then making her home debut on Saturday, Mosquera fell one kill shy of back-to-back double-digit performances.Â
Â
She first led the Tigers with season-bests of 11 kills on a match-high .360 hitting percentage and five blocks versus Kutztown.Â
Â
Mosquera then set a new season-best in blocks for the second time on the day with a match-high seven in HFU's first win of the season.Â
