Tigers Conclude Season on Day Two of CACCs

LAKEWOOD, N.J. -  The Holy Family University softball lost 6-3 to #3 Caldwell University on day two of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Softball Championships Friday.  The game was in the elimination bracket of the double-elimination tournament.  The loss concludes the 2021-22 season for the Tigers.

How It Happened 
 
* Caldwell capitalized on a wild pitch from senior Ashley Remington (Collegeville, Pa./Pope John Paul II) to take a 1-0 lead in the first.  The Cougars made it 2-0 when they scored on a Holy Family throwing error in the second.
 
* Maya Rodriguez and Allison Winters each sent shots over the fence to make it 4-0 in favor of Caldwell in the third.
 
* Freshman Carlie Miller (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) recorded her first career homerun in the fifth for two RBI.  Three batters later, senior Elaina Hansen (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) tripled for an RBI to make it a one-run game at 4-3.
 
 * The long ball proved to be kryptonite for Holy Family as both Ashleigh Tavaska and Paige Sandoval each knocked one over the fence in the sixth to seal the 6-3 victory.

Inside the Box Score (Game 1)
 
* In the nine-hit effort by the Tigers both Miller and senior Jasmine Martinez (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Polytechnic) finished 2-for-3.
 
* Senior Ashley Remington (Collegeville, Pa./Pope John Paul II) recorded the loss in the circle allowing five earned runs off of six hits in six innings of work.  She struck out four.
 
* Mariah Culver earned the win for Caldwell allowing three earned runs in seven innings allowing nine hits while striking out four.
