Women's Lacrosse Falls to Wilmington, 18-11 in the CACC Quarterfinals

Philadelphia, Pa. – The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team fell to Wilmington University 18-11, in the quarterfinals of the CACC conference tournament on Tuesday evening at Tiger Field.

How It Happened

  • The Wildcats started the game scoring three fast goals. 
  • The Tigers answers with a goal to cut the lead down to two at the 12:15 mark of the first quarter.
  • Wilmington would score two goals to take a 5-1 lead, but Holy Family would score back to back goals to end the first quarter down two goals. 
  • The Wildcats started the second quarter with two goals. Both teams would exchange goals to end the first half, with the Tigers trailing three goals. 
  • Wilmington took control of the third period, holding the Holy Family to two goals as the Wildcats scored four goals to extend their lead to four.
  • Holy Family scored the first goal of the fourth quarter, but Wilmington scored five unanswered goals to take a nine goal lead.
  • The Tigers would score two goals in the last five minutes of the game, but it wasn't enough to catch the Wildcats.
  • Holy Family outshot Wilmington, 45-38.
  • The Tigers edged the Wildcats on ground balls 21-20, and won 20-13 draw controls.
