PHILADELPHIA – The HFU women's soccer team battled top-seed Bridgeport to the very end, becoming the first league team to shutout the Purple Knights this season, before falling in penalties in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament Semifinals on Friday evening at Tiger Field.
With
Brianna Pudlo (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) making a career-high 12 saves, and the back-line that featured
Maura Kilkenny (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Little Flower),
Lexi Murphy (Woolwich Township, N.J./Kingsway Regional (Saint Francis U)),
Gianna Penecale (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland), Bryn Hess and
Rebecca Casper (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) defending valiantly, the score remained 0-0 after 110 minutes of play.
Despite
Alyssa Hooten (Pocono Summit, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) and
Gianna Monaco (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) converting from the spot in the shootout, Bridgeport did not miss to prevail 4-2.

- Pudlo made saves in the 67th and 76th minutes, with Marino firing high in-between
- UB had seven of the final eight attempts of regulation, with Pudlo making one final stop 13 seconds ahead of overtime, just 20 seconds after Mignon had a shot blocked on the other end
