Volleyball Begins Final Week of Regular Season at Wilmington

NEWARK, Del. – The Holy Family University volleyball team began its last week of the regular season at Wilmington on Wednesday night. 
 
Individual Highlights
  • Falling one shy of a match-high with five blocks, Isabella Mosquera's (West Chicago, Ill./Saint Charles East) 96 this season are now tied for second in the program's single-season history
    • Her 66 block assists are third
  • Skylar Osenkarski (Harding, Pa./Holy Redeemer) fell one kill shy of double-figures for the match's second-highest total 
    • The senior finished the night with 150 career block assists, tied for sixth in program history, while her 188 career total blocks are eighth all-time
  • Leading HFU with 23 assists, Morgan Steck (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood) moved into 10th in the program's single-season history with 815
  • Faith Zehnder (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood) and Shelby Kinzer (Sioux Falls, S.D./Washington) tied for the match's second-highest total with 14 digs, a career-best for the latter
 
How it Happened
First Set (25-17)
  • Holy Family led by as many as five, 9-4, when a Brianna Moss (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield) service ace capped three unanswered
  • The Tigers were still ahead 12-9 before Wilmington scored five in a row to begin an 8-1 surge to take the lead for good
  • HFU got as close as 16-18 on a Kinzer kill, but the Wildcats would end the set on a 7-1 run
Second Set (25-19)
  • Holy Family again led by five, 11-6, with three different Tigers, including Allyssa Hartney (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley), providing kills in a 6-1 flurry
  • This time it was Wilmington beginning an 11-1 stretch with seven consecutive points to take control   
Third Set (25-15)
  • HFU erased an early four-point deficit to tie the score at 11 when a Mosquera ace capped three unanswered, but again the Wildcats had a run in the middle of the set as this time it was a 6-1 surgge that led to the sweep
