Tigers Fall to Knights Under the Lights



Philadelphia, Pa. – Queens College sophomore Nicholas Tagios recorded a hat-trick as the Knights defeated the Holy Family University men's soccer team, 4-2, in a non-conference contest on Wednesday night at New Tiger Field.  It marked the first-ever night game on the campus of Holy Family.

How It Happened
 
* Queens scored the first three goals of the game, including two by Tagios.  The Knights picked up goals in the 11th, 17th and 49th minutes. 
 
* Holy Family finally got on the board in the 51st minute when senior Sean McCormick (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) connected on his first goal of the season.  The Tigers would cut the Knights lead down to one in the 70th minute when sophomore Brendan McCarthy (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) drove in a rebounded ball off his initial shot that hit the post. 
 
* Five minutes after the Tigers came within one goal of tying the game, Tagios struck again for the Knights to extend the lead to 4-2 with his third goal of the game.

* McCarthy's goal in the 70th minute marked his first career score.
 
* Junior Dakota Taylor (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) led the Tigers with four shots.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the sixth meeting between Holy Family and Queens since the start of the 2010 season.  The Tigers are now 2-3-1 versus the Knights in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 18 as the Tigers host East Stroudsburg University in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 4 p.m.
