How It Happened

* Chloe VanGorder gave Caldwell a 1-0 lead after connecting on a two-out first inning home run.  The Cougars then added four more runs in the bottom of the second inning to grab an early 5-0 lead in the game.  Taylor Mischler highlighted the inning with a two-run double to left-center field.

* Caldwell's Mariah Culver (13-4) held the Tigers to just one run in the game while scattering six hits through a complete seven-inning performance.  Culver finished with five strikeouts to earn her 13th win of the season.

* Holy Family's lone run came in the top half of the sixth when junior Elaina Hansen (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) scored junior Abigail Smith (Elkton, Md./Red Lion Christian Academy) with a double to right field.  Smith reached on a double herself earlier in the inning.

Inside the Box Score

* Hansen finished the game a perfect 3-for-3 to finish the season with a career-best .442 batting average.  It's the third-highest batting average in the program's Division II era as Hansen is just one of five players to finish a season hitting over .400.  In addition, Hansen set a couple of single season records with the highest slugging percentage (.768) and highest on-base percentage (.480) in the D-II era.

* Junior Ashley Remington (Collegeville, Pa./Pope John Paul II) (4-9) struck out four batters in her 12th complete game of the season.  With her four K's, Remington moved into fourth place in the program's all-time strikeout list in the D-II era.  She will enter her senior season with 220 career strikeouts.

All-Time Series
Today marked the 42nd meeting between Holy Family and Caldwell since the start of the 2002 season.  The Tigers are now 7-35 versus the Cougars in that span.
