Tigers Blank Griffins in CACC Action, 5-0



Bryn Athyn, Pa. – Freshman Gianna Monaco (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) had a career day as she totaled two goals and assist in the Holy Family University women's soccer victory over city rival Chestnut Hill College, 5-0, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Sunday night at Nelson Field on the campus of Bryn Athyn College.

How It Happened
 
* Holy Family struck early and often and as a result held a 3-0 lead within the first 10:27 minutes of play.  Junior Jacqueline Ziegler (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy) scored the game's first goal in the fourth minute with senior Hannah Derby (Pitman, N.J./Pitman) assisting on the play.  Less than a minute later, Monaco scored the first of her two goals in the half to double the Tigers' lead.  Junior Kait Findlay (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan), who assisted on Monaco's goal, tallied one of her own in the 11th minute to make the score 3-0.
 
* Monaco capped the first half scoring for the Tigers in the 18th minute.  Monaco collected a rebounded ball off a saved shot by freshman Brenna McCarry (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) and was able to beat the Chestnut Hill keeper for her second score of the game.
 
* In the second half even the rain and wind couldn't stop the Tigers' offense.  McCarry scored the team's final goal of the game in the 65th minute for her first collegiate score.
 
News and Notes
 
* Monaco finished with a career-high five points off two goals and one assist.  McCarry also totaled a career-high in points as she finished with three off one goal and one assist.  McCarry finished the game with a career-high four shots with all on-target.
 
* Junior Alayna McSeed (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) made her season debut and earned the victory after holding down the net in the first half for the Tigers.  She made one save after facing just two shots in the opening half.  In the second half, freshman Ceili' Courduff (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) made her first collegiate appearance.  Courduff also made a save while only facing one shot in the second half. 
 
* Holy Family outshot the Griffins, 22-3, for the game.  The Tigers had 15 shots in the first half. 
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 14th meeting between Holy Family and Chestnut Hill since the start of the 2007 season.  The Tigers are now 9-3-2 versus the Griffins in the all-time series.  Holy Family has won the previous four match ups with a winning margin of 15-1.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Wednesday, March 31 as the Tigers host city rival Jefferson in a CACC contest.  Game time is set for 12 p.m. at Father Judge High School.
