How It Happened

*  It was an overall team effort for the Tigers as they shutout the Cougars for three time in the last four meetings between the two teams.  Holy Family totaled 43 kills and only had 10 errors in 105 total attempts to finish the match with an impressive team attack percentage of .314-percent.

* In the first set the Tigers held off a late rally by the Cougars after holding a 22-16 lead.   Four straight points by Caldwell cut the Holy Family lead to two points.  A kill by sophomore Allyssa Hartney (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) ended the run and after exchanging points fellow sophomore Skylar Osenkarski (Harding, Pa./Holy Redeemer) made it a 24-21 score with a kill of her own.  Another point by the Cougars made it 24-22, but senior Carly Covington (Delmar, Md./Delmar) closed out the set with a kill for the three-point set win.

* The momentum carried over into the second set as the Tigers opened with seven straight points. Holy Family never looked back with the offense scorching the Cougars defense for 15 kills in the set to go along with a .429 attack percentage.  Osenkarski totaled five kills in the set, while Hartney added four.

* The third set turned out to be much closer despite the Tigers opening with a 10-3 advantage.  Holy Family increased its lead to as many as eight points in the set late with a 20-12 lead.  Caldwell used a 10-3 run to cut the deficit to 23-22.  A service error by the Cougars stalled their run to increase the Tigers' point total to 24.  Caldwell managed a kill on the ensuing rally to once again make it a one-point lead, but Covington for the second time in the match closed out a set with a kill to give the Tigers the three set victory.
