Tigers Fall to City Rival Rams in CACC Semifinals



Waterbury, Conn. – The Holy Family University women's soccer team's season came to an abrupt end after the Tigers fell to city rival and third-seeded Thomas Jefferson University, 4-1, in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) semifinals on a rainy and windy Friday morning at Municipal Stadium in Waterbury, Conn.

How It Happened
 
*  Two early goals by the Rams doomed the Tigers as Jefferson was able to build a 2-0 advantage within the first 10 minutes of the game.  The Rams received goals from Kiery Spatz in the fourth minute and Grace Kenville in the 11th minute.
 
* Jefferson went on to increase its lead to 3-0 in the 22nd minute when Devin Sullivan scored with Emma Kuciapinski assisting on the play.
 
* Holy Family got on the board within the first three minutes of the start of the second half.  Senior Cassie Kennedy (Delran, N.J./Delran (Rowan at Burlington County)) connected on her first goal of the season in the 49th minute to make the score 3-1.
 
* Jefferson added one more goal in the 82nd minute by Laural Erick to cap the scoring.
 
Inside the Box
 
* Jefferson outshot the Tigers, 14-6, as the Rams had 12 of their 14 shots on-target.
 
* The Rams held a 7-2 advantage on corner kicks.
 
News and Notes
 
* Senior goalkeeper and CACC Goalkeeper of the Year Alayna McSeed (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) becomes the fourth keeper in program history to finish a season with a goals against average below 1.00.  McSeed recorded a 0.96 goals against average on the year; fourth lowest in a single season.  She also finished the season with a career-high 85 saves increasing her career total to 129 for ninth most in the program's record book.  Her 1.02 career goals against average is also the third lowest among the program's all-time goalkeepers.
 
* Senior Jacqueline Ziegler (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy) concluded the season with eight assists; the most recorded in a season since former standout Bree Rock totaled nine in 2017.  Ziegler concludes her career with 19 assists tied for 10th most in program history.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 30th meeting between Holy Family and Jefferson since the start of the 1998 season.  The Tigers are now 13-13-4 versus the Rams in the all-time series.
 
Holy Family in the CACC Tournament
Since joining the CACC in 1999, the Tigers have qualified for the CACC Tournament each year with this year marking their 23rd consecutive trip to the postseason.  The Tigers are now 32-11-4 after their 19th showing in the CACC semifinals.
