Tigers Fall to City Rival Rams in Finale



Philadelphia, Pa. – The Holy Family University women's basketball team dropped its regular season finale to city rival Thomas Jefferson University by the score of 72-59 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Saturday afternoon at the Gallagher Center.  The Tigers will now switch gears to the postseason as Holy Family hosts Caldwell University on Tuesday in the CACC quarterfinals.

Game Recap
 
* Jefferson led the entire game except for when the score was tied 5-5 early in the opening quarter.  The Rams led 18-13 heading into the second quarter.  The Tigers came within three points (20-17) before the Rams went on an 8-0 run to grab a double-digit lead at 28-17.  Jefferson went on to lead 35-22 at the half.
 
* In the second half, Jefferson led by as many as 23 points (57-34) in the final minute of the third quarter. The Rams biggest lead of the game came in the fourth quarter after a jumper by Alynna Williams, who scored a game-high 32 points, made the score 61-37. 
 
* Holy Family narrowed the lead down to 13 points at 66-53 after a 16-4 run over a six-minute span. However, that would be as close as the Tigers would come as the Rams followed with a mini 6-1 run leading into the final minute of regulation.
 
News and Notes
 
* Graduate student Mia Ehling (Linden, N.J./Holmdel (St. Francis)) and junior Anjelai Hayes (Woodbury, N.J./Woodbury) each scored 12 points for the Tigers.
 
* Freshman Moe Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) led the team with 10 rebounds.
 
* Senior Dana Dockery (Wappinger Falls, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) and junior Megan Hughes (Point Pleasant Boro, N.J./Point Pleasant Boro) supplied the Tigers with seven points apiece off the bench.
 
* Williams scored a game-high 32 points (13-25 FG) and knocked a game-high six three-pointers (6-12) for the Rams.  Haley Meinel added 18 points and a game-high seven steals.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 32nd meeting between Holy Family and Jefferson since the start of the 2005-06 season.  The Tigers are now 21-11 versus the Rams in that span.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Tuesday, March 3 as the Tigers host the third seed from the North Division in Caldwell University in the quarterfinals of the CACC Tournament.  Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at the Campus Center Gymnasium.
