Late Surge Lifts Tigers to Seventh Straight Win



Philadelphia, Pa. –  The Holy Family University women's basketball team used a 15-0 run late in the fourth quarter to defeat Wilmington University, 71-63, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Wednesday night at the Campus Center Gymnasium.  The win extended the Tigers season-long winning streak to seven games.

Game Recap
 
* Wilmington led 54-52at the 8:26 mark of the fourth quarter after a three-pointer by Kasha Andrews erased an eight-point deficit to give the Wildcats their first lead since early in the third quarter.  Andrew's three-pointer capped a 10-0 run that started in the final seconds of the third quarter.
 
* Holy Family responded to the Wildcats run with a 15-0 surge over the next six minutes to grab its biggest lead of the game at 67-54 with 2:17 to play in regulation.  Senior Elizabeth Radley (Hainesport, N.J./Bishop Eustace Prep) drained a three-pointer to put an exclamation mark on the run.
 
* The Wildcats cut the Tigers' lead to single digits when LaShrya Williams knocked down a three-pointer to make the score 69-61 with :37 seconds to play.  However, that would be as close as the Wildcats would get with time being on the Tigers' side.
 
* Holy Family also had a 13-point lead in the first quarter.  Junior Ege-ly Viirmaa gave the Tigers a 25-12 lead at the 1:28 mark with a three-pointer. The Wildcats went on to erase a 12-point deficit in the second quarter to lead 37-35 at the half. The Tigers led 30-18 with 8:49 to play in the second quarter before Wilmington went on a 19-5 run to close out the half.
 
News and Notes
 
* Radley led all scorers with 26 points to go along with a game-high 13 rebounds to record her fifth double-double of the season.  Radley scored 14 of her 26 points in the first quarter. Prior to the game, Holy Family recognized Radley on her recent 1,000 career point milestone achieved this past Sunday at Concordia College.
 
* Freshman Moe Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) filled the stat sheet with 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists.  Moore scored 13 of her 15 points in the second half.
 
* Graduate student Mia Ehling (Linden, N.J./Holmdel (St. Francis)) and junior Angelai Hayes each finished with 10 points.
 
* Williams and Emily Ansah each recorded double-doubles for the Wildcats.  Williams finished with a team-high 18 points to go along with 13 rebounds and six assists.  Ansah came off the bench and totaled 17 points (8-11 FG) to go along with 13 rebounds.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 38th meeting between Holy Family and Wilmington since the start of the 2002-03 season.  The Tigers are now 33-5 versus the Wildcats in that span.
 
Atop the CACC Standings
Holy Family is the lone undefeated team in the CACC in conference play this season.  The Tigers have won their first 11 conference contests; the team's longest run to start the season since going 19-0 in conference play in 2009-10.  
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 1 as the Tigers travel to face Dominican College in a CACC contest.  Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. in Orangeburg, N.Y.
