Tigers Remain Perfect in CACC; Defeat Lions 67-58



Philadelphia, Pa. – The Holy Family University women's basketball team won its fourth straight game and in the process remained undefeated in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play after coming up with a 67-58 victory over Georgian Court University on Wednesday night inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.

Game Recap
 
* Holy Family led majority of the game and trailed in just the opening minute after Georgian Court scored the game's first basket off a three-pointer by Savawn Hughes. The Tigers led by as many as eight points in the opening quarter with a 19-11 advantage at the 2:03 mark.
 
* The Lions tied the game at 21-21 early in the second quarter, but the Tigers quickly recovered after junior Megan Hughes (Point Pleasant Boro, N.J./Point Pleasant Boro) split a pair of free throws at the 7:07 mark to regain the lead. Holy Family closed the half with a 9-2 run to lead 30-23 at the half.
 
*In the second half, the Tigers established the game's first double-digit lead after a three-pointer by senior Elizabeth Radley (Hainesport, N.J./Bishop Eustace Prep) made the score 53-43 early in the fourth quarter.  On the next Tigers' possession, freshman Moe Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) hit a jumper to extend the lead increasing it to a game-high 12 points.
 
* The Lions came as close as five points of the lead with one minute remaining after a three-pointer by Tian Addison made the score 63-58.  The Tigers though converted 4-of-4 from the free throw line in the final minute to hold off the Lions and graduate Mia Ehling (Linden, N.J./Holmdel (St. Francis)) capped the game with a defensive steal with :21 seconds remaining.
 
News and Notes
 
* Radley led all scorers with 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field. As a result, she is now within 36 points of 1,000 for her career as she currently sits with 964 career points.
 
* Moore finished the night with 14 points and a team-high three steals, while senior Casey Schweitzer (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Arlington) added 12 points (4-5 FG) to go along with six rebounds.  Ehling also scored in double-figures as she totaled 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
 
* Safiyyah Lee led the Lions with 16 points off the bench (7-11 FG) to go along with six rebounds. Ivona Krakic added 12 points, eight rebounds and four blocks.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 35th meeting between Holy Family and Georgian Court since the start of the 2002-03 season.  The Tigers are now 33-2 versus the Lions in that span and have won four of the last five meetings in the series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 18 as the Tigers travel to face Bloomfield College in a CACC contest.  Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
