Tigers Fall Short in CACC Opener



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's soccer team suffered a heart-breaking loss to open Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play as Concordia College came away with a 2-1 victory on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field.

Game Recap
 
* Concordia scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 88th minute.  Holy Family was called for a foul inside the box, which resulted in a penalty kick opportunity for the Clippers.  Alessandro Battaglia converted the kick to give Concordia a 2-1 lead with 2:20 remaining in regulation.
 
* The Clippers scored the game's first goal in the 22nd minute when Dennis Limani took advantage of a free kick from about 25-30 yards out to give the Clippers a 1-0 lead.
 
* Holy Family eventually tied the game in the 44th minute on a similar opportunity.  Sophomore Georg Montag (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) launched a free kick from the left side about 30-yards out that snuck through the defense and passed the goalkeeper for his second goal of the season.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 14th meeting between Holy Family and Concordia since the start of the 2005 season.  The Tigers are now 8-5-1 versus the Clippers in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family will look to get back on the winning track on Tuesday, Sept. 24 when the Tigers host West Chester University in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 4 p.m.
