Tigers Fall to Falcons in Non-Conference Tilt



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season after falling to Bentley University by the score of 2-0 in a non-conference contest on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field.

Game Recap
 
* The Bentley offense put the pressure on the Holy Family defense with 11 first half shots.  The Falcons finally found the back of the net in the 26th minute when Colby Gould scored his first goal of the season.
 
* The Falcons continued their offensive aggressiveness into the second half with another 10 shots to finish with 21 on the day.  Bentley would double its lead in the 81st minute when Matthew Tidona connected on his first goal of the season. Tidona and Connor Mote had a two-on-two with the Holy Family defense as Mote managed to get a cross pass over to Tidona for the shot.
 
* Holy Family had a few opportunities to tie the game before Bentley increased the lead to two goals in the second half.  In the 57th minute freshman Sean Touey (Rockledge, Pa./Abington) got off a wide-open shot by Bentley keeper Nick Maldarella made the save.  In the 74th minute freshman Dakota Taylor (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) had a cross shot hit off the left post, coming inches from tying the game. 
 
News and Notes
 
* Senior goalkeeper Mark Tobin (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic (La Salle Univ.)) tied his career-high with eight saves in net for the Tigers.
 
* Taylor and sophomore Joel Richmond (Bridgetown, Barbados/Church Farm) led the Tigers in shots with two a piece.
 
* Bentley's Julian Stewart and Patrick McMahon led the game with four shots each.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked just the second meeting between Holy Family and Bentley and the first since the 2006 season.  The Falcons are now 2-0-0 versus the Tigers in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family will hit the road for the first time this season on Thursday, Sept. 19 as the Tigers face East Stroudsburg University in a non-conference contest under the lights.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
