Tigers Fall to Eagles in Season Finale

Waterbury, Conn. - The Holy Family University softball closed out the season with a pair of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contests at Post University on Sunday afternoon at LaMoy Field.  The Tigers dropped both games to the Eagles by the scores of 10-2 and 5-0.

Location: Waterbury, Conn. (LaMoy Field)

How It Happened (Game 1)

* Post had four different players drive in multiple runs as the Eagles recorded 10 runs in a six-inning victory. After Holy Family tied the game at 1-1 with an unearned run in the third, the Eagles responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning.  Post then went on to score a pair of runs in the fourth off back-to-back hits by Leyri Rivera and Cassidy Petrie to take a 4-1 lead.

* The Tigers tacked on another unearned run in the fifth before the Eagles added another pair in the bottom of the inning.  Post came through with four runs in the sixth to initiate the run-rule.  Paige Delier delivered a two-run single after back-to-back walks with the bases loaded scored two runs prior.

*  Junior Julia Vizza (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) and freshmen Jasmine Martinez (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Polytechnic) and Madelyn Yeager (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) each had hits for the Tigers.

How It Happened (Game 2)

* In the nightcap, Samantha McErlane (5-2) went the distance for the Eagles as she held the Tigers to just three hits in the game while allowing zero runs.

* Senior Casey Boltersdorf (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) held the Eagles scoreless through the first four innings and allowed just one hit while striking out five batters.  However, the Eagles offense got to her in the fifth scoring four runs off four straight hits, including a three-run homer by Delier.

* Post added another run in the sixth inning to cap the scoring.

* Vizza, along with junior Tyler Beccari (Havertown, Pa./Haverford (Temple)) and freshman Elaina Hansen (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) accounted for the Tigers' three hits.

All-Time Series
Today marked the 41st and 42nd meetings between Holy Family and Post since the start of the 2002 season.  The Tigers are now 25-17 versus the Eagles in the all-time series.
