Tigers Fall to Cougars in Regular Season Finale



West Caldwell, N.J. - The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team dropped the season finale to Caldwell University by the score of 28-17 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Saturday afternoon at Essex Valley Field.

How It Happened
 
* It was a high scoring affair as both teams combined for 45 goals after totaling 80 shots in the game.  Caldwell held a slight edge on shots by a 42-38 margin. 
 
* Caldwell led throughout after mounting a 9-3 lead in the opening half.  Holy Family made things interesting by chipping away at the Cougars lead and eventually cut the deficit down to 13-9 by halftime.  Freshman Tatceyana Pulley (Edgewater Park, N.J./Burlington City) scored the final goal in the half with one second on the clock.
 
* In the second half the Cougars went on a 6-2 run to open things up increasing their lead to 19-11 by the 23:37 mark.  Holy Family once again chipped away at the deficit by scoring four unanswered goals with two bookended by senior Devon Felix (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland).  Her second goal of the run made the score 20-16 with 13:26 to play.
 
* Caldwell responded and at the same time put the game out of reach as the Cougars tallied eight straight goals over a 10-plus minute span to grab a double-digit lead at 28-16 with just over two minutes to play.
 
News and Notes
 
* Felix led the Tigers with five goals to go along with 13 draw controls.  She finished the season with a career-high 45 goals and 50 points.  Felix also recorded career-highs in groundballs (35) and draw controls.  She concludes her career with 138 points; eighth most in program history, and 108 career goals; ninth most in program history. Felix is also one of two players to record over 200 career draw controls.  She finishes second all-time with 248.
 
* Seniors Dana Trevito (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) and Vanessa Pagliei (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) join Felix in the top-15 in the program's all-time scoring list. Trevito finished the game with one goal and one assist to finish her career with 125 points (74 G, 51A) to rank 10th in the record book, while Pagliei totaled 120 career points (76G, 44A); 11th most, after recording an assist in the game.  The trio has combined for 258 goals and 383 points in their four-year careers.
 
* Junior Casey Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) and freshman Yasmine Machlof (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) each scored four goals in the game. 
 
* Caldwell's Arden Kassaleh finished the game with 10 goals and two assists for 12 points, while Samantha Murphy tallied eight goals and five assists for 13 points.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the seventh meeting between Holy Family and Caldwell since the start of the 2014 season.  The Tigers are now 4-3 versus the Cougars in the all-time series.
