Tigers Fall to City Rival Jefferson, 16-6



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest to city rival Jefferson by the score of 16-6 on Monday afternoon at Tiger Field.

How It Happened
 
* Jefferson jumped out to the game's first lead when Sarah von Lange scored her first of her game-high eight goals minutes into the game to five the Rams a 1-0 advantage.  Holy Family quickly tied things up when senior Vanessa Pagliei (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) connected on her 14th goal of the season.
 
* The Rams went on to score six straight goals over a 12-plus minute span.  von Lange and Erin Eckert each tallied multiple goals in the offensive surge.  Juninor Casey Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) ended the Rams' run with a goal at the 7:00 minute mark but Jefferson followed with three more goals to close out the half to lead 10-2 at halftime.
 
* In the second half the Rams opened with four straight goals, including a pair by von Lange to increase their lead to 14-2 by the 21:24 mark of the half.
 
News and Notes
 
* Brown led the Tigers with a team-high three goals to go along with two ground balls and three draw controls.
 
* Senior Caleigh Gallagher (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) led the team with a season-high seven ground balls.
 
* Senior JoAnne Mamie (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) finished the game with four ground balls and one caused turnover.
 
* Sophomore Jenna Heath (Philadelphia, Pa./New Foundations Charter School) recorded 14 saves in net for the Tigers; one shy of her career-high. 
 
* Jefferson's von Lange came away with eight goals and three assists for a game-high 11 points.  She also totaled six ground balls and controlled five draws.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 22nd meeting between Holy Family and Jefferson dating back to the 2009 season.  The Tigers are 6-16 versus the Rams in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Thursday, April 4 as the Tigers host Georgian Court University in a CACC contest.  Game time is set for 4 p.m. at Tiger Field.
