New Haven, Conn. - Holy Family University freshman
Patrick Robinson III (Chesterfield, N.J./Conwell Egan) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men's Basketball Rookie of the Year as announced by Commissioner Dan Mara on Tuesday morning. In addition, Robinson was selected to the All-CACC second team.
Robinson is the second player in program history to earn Rookie of the Year accolades from the CACC and the first to do so since Justin Swidowski earned the honor in 2008-09.
"We are very proud of Patrick, he certainly deserved to be recognized with what he did for our team this season," said head coach
R.C. Kehoe. "He is an extremely hard working young man who has the right mindset when it comes to his preparation. He is unmatched in my years of coaching."
Robinson had a stellar freshman campaign as he averaged 18.9 points per game through the regular season, which ranks eighth best in the CACC. He's also ranked sixth in the conference in shooting percentage with a 55.3 clip from the field.
Robinson, who was named the CACC Rookie of the Week seven times during the course of the regular season, is also averaging 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. Defensively, he has totaled at least one steal per game.
The Chesterfield, N.J. native has been surging of late as he has recorded four double-doubles in his last six games averaging 21.6 points and 9.1 rebounds per game in that stretch.
Robinson will look to continue his hot streak later tonight as Holy Family, the third seed out of the South Division, opens the CACC quarterfinals at Dominican College, the second seed from the North Division. Tip-off from Orangeburg, N.Y. is set for 5:30 p.m.
