Tigers Cruise Past Lightning, 84-68



Wilmington, Del. - Freshmen Kharon Randolph (Philadelphia, Pa./Haverford School) and Patrick Robinson III (Chesterfield, N.J./Conwell Egan) combined to score 44 points as the Holy Family University men's basketball team defeated Goldey-Beacom College, 84-68, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division contest on Tuesday night.

How It Happened
 
* Holy Family led from beginning to end as Randolph opened the scoring with a three-pointer on the team's first possession that jump-started a 12-2 run over the first seven minutes of action.  Midway way through the half, already leading 16-6, the Tigers used another big run to increase their lead to 25-8 at the 7:14 mark; the largest of the half.
 
* Holy Family would go on to lead 31-20 at the half after the Lightning closed out the scoring on a 5-0 run.
 
* In the second half, the Tigers knocked down half their shots from the field (14-28 FG) and converted 7-of-15 from deep range after only making two three-pointers in the first half.  Holy Family's sharp shooting led to a 74-48 advantage late in the second half. 
 
* Holy Family took advantage of its free throw opportunities connecting 27-of-31 attempts, including 18-of-21 in the second half.
 
News and Notes
 
* Robinson finished with a game-high 22 points as he shot 6-of-8 from the field and a near-perfect 9-of-10 from the free throw line.  The five-time CACC Rookie of the Week also totaled nine rebounds and five assists.
 
* Randolph registered 20 points (5-11 FG) after knocking down three three-pointers and 7-of-7 from the charity stripe.  He also dished out four assists.
 
* Junior Vincenzo Dalessandro (Levittown, Pa./Conwell Egan (Pace Univ.)) recorded his seventh double-double of the season after scoring 15 points and grabbing a team-high 10 boards.  Fellow junior Branden Aughburns (Queens, N.Y./The Canterbury School (Hampton Univ.)) also tallied 10 rebounds to go along with six points.
 
* Freshman Dymir Montague (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti), the CACC Defensive Player of the Week, added 15 points and six rebounds.  Montague also recorded two blocks and two steals.
 
* Mahir Johnson scored a team-high 19 points for the Lightning.  Giovanni Jones recorded a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 16 rebounds.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 34th meeting between Holy Family and Goldey-Beacom since the start of the 2003-04 season.  The Tigers are now 20-14 versus the Lightning in the program's Division II era.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 7 as the Tigers travel to face Felician University in a CACC contest. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
