Tigers End Skid; Win Big at Chestnut Hill



Philadelphia, Pa. - Junior Branden Aughburns (Queens, N.Y./The Canterbury School (Hampton Univ.)) and freshman Patrick Robinson III (Chesterfield, N.J./Conwell Egan) combined for 49 points as the Holy Family University men's basketball team ended its four-game skid with an 89-73 victory against city rival Chestnut Hill College on Tuesday night at Sorgenti Arena.

How It Happened
 
* Holy Family took control of the game in the final minutes of the opening half after a back-and-forth first half with the Griffins.  Leading 34-33 with three minutes to play until halftime, the Tigers went on a quick 8-0 run to grab the largest lead of the game to that point at 42-33.  The Tigers went on to take a 42-35 advantage into the locker rooms at halftime.
 
* In the second half, the Tigers maintained their lead throughout despite Chestnut Hill cutting the lead down to two possessions at 50-44 at the 16:48 mark.  From there, the Tigers went on a 12-1 run in the next three minutes capped off with a three-pointer by junior Vincenzo Dalessandro (Levittown, Pa./Conwell Egan (Pace Univ.)) that made the score 62-45.
 
* Holy Family led by as many as 21 points after Robinson converted a pair of free throws at the 9:28 mark to make the score 72-51.
 
News and Notes
 
* Robinson recorded his second double-double of the season as he finished with a game-high 26 points to go along with a new career-high 12 rebounds.  Robinson shot 9-of-14 from the field and totaled a pair of steals on defense.
 
* Aughburns finished with 23 points on 11-of-17 shooting as he tied his season-high in scoring.  He also grabbed eight rebounds and blocked two shots on the defensive end.
 
* Freshman Dymir Montague (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) also scored in double-figures with 12 points to go along with a game-high seven assists.  Dalessandro also totaled 12 points as he added six rebounds on the night.
 
* For Chestnut Hill, Keyon Butler came off the bench to score a team-high 20 points to go along with nine rebounds.  Ed McWade finished with 16 points and six boards, while Liban Awl added 12 points and five rebounds.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 24th meeting between Holy Family and Chestnut Hill since the start of the 2007-08 season.  The Tigers are now 18-6 versus the Griffins in that span and have won the last 11 contests in the series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 23 as the Tigers host Georgian Court University in a CACC contest. Game time is set for 3 p.m. from inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.
