Game Recap

* The Spartans led 22-16 midway through the first half and used a massive 23-9 run the final nine-plus minutes of the half to take a 20-point lead into the locker rooms at halftime with a score of 45-25.

* The Tigers found themselves trailing 55-30 at the 15:30 mark of the second half after the Spartans split a pair of free throws.  The game appeared to be heading into a one-sided affair and possible blowout until the Tigers made things interesting.

* Over the next eleven minutes and sixteen seconds the Tigers nearly erased a 25-point deficit cutting the Spartans lead down to just five points at 66-61. During that span the Tigers outscored STAC, 31-11, and knocked down four three-pointers.  Holy Family also took care of its free throws going 9-of-12 from the line during the run.

* Despite the comeback surge, the Tigers' bid for a come-from-behind victory fell short as the Spartans regrouped and closed out the final four minutes with a 13-5 to secure their fourth straight victory to open the season.

News and Notes

* Sophomore Eric Esposito (Langhorne, Pa./Conwell Egan) scored a career-high 17 points to lead the Tigers off the bench.  He finished the day shooting 6-of-10 from the field, including 4-of-7 from deep range.  He also totaled a season-high 12 rebounds; one shy of his career-high to record his first career double-double.

* Junior Brendan Hoban (Watertown, Mass./Millbrook) finished with 14 points and a season-high eight assists, which was also a game-high.

* Senior Branden Aughburns (Queens, N.Y./The Canterbury School (Hampton Univ.)) tallied eight points and grabbed 10 rebounds while blocking a pair of shots.
