Tigers Fall to Lightning in CACC Quarterfinals



Wilmington, Del. – The Holy Family University women's soccer team came up short in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) quarterfinals to fourth-seeded Goldey-Beacom College by the score of 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Nancy Chuchman Sawin Field.

Game Recap

* Two first half goals by the CACC Player of the Year Jenna Fannon turned out to be the difference in the game.  Fannon recorded her 24th and 25th goals of the season increasing her conference lead as well as Division II lead in goals scored this year.  Fannon scored in the 16th and 21st minutes of the first half.
 
* Holy Family put the pressure on the Goldey-Beacom defense as the Tigers totaled 12 shots in the second half after only getting off three in the first 45 minutes.  Unfortunately, the Tigers were unable to get anything by Lightning goalkeeper Noel Talbot who made four saves in the game.
 
News and Notes
 
* Junior goalkeeper Brianna Pudlo (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) totaled two saves in the game to finish the season with 55 saves, which ties her career-high.  Pudlo will enter her senior season with 117 career saves; ranked 10th in program history.
 
* Holy Family was appearing in its 21st consecutive CACC Tournament as the Tigers have qualified for the postseason each year since joining the conference in 1999.  The Tigers are now 30-10-3 overall in the CACC Tournament.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 26th meeting between Holy Family and Goldey-Beacom since the start of the 2000 season. The Tigers are now 20-5-1 versus the Lightning in the all-time series.
 
All-CACC Recognition
Prior to today's CACC quarterfinal matches the conference office announced this year's All-CACC team and major award winners.  Holy Family had three represented on the All-CACC second team, including senior Susie Blaney (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) and juniors Hannah Derby (Pitman, N.J./Pitman) and Pudlo.
