Tigers Dominate Chargers in CACC Action



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team extended its winning streak to five after defeating Dominican College, 3-0, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) cross division match up on Saturday morning from inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.

How It Happened
 
* The Holy Family offense overwhelmed Dominican as the Tigers recorded 43 kills with an impressive .346 hitting percentage.  The Chargers struggled offensively, only producing 12 kills with a low .037 hitting percentage.
 
* The Tigers were once again successful on the serve.  After producing 17 aces last night against Goldey-Beacom College, the Tigers tallied 12 aces with junior Gianna Pesognelli (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle) leading the way with five.
 
News and Notes
 
* Senior Chase Wassel (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) tallied 22 kills to lead the offensive attack.  She recorded a hitting percentage of .395 on 38 total attacks. It marked her third match in the last four that she totaled 20-plus kills.
 
* Freshman Morgan Silks (Norristown, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) finished with 35 assists to go along with seven digs and two aces.  She finished the weekend with 11 total aces.
 
* Sophomore Carly Covington (Delmar, Md./Delmar) tallied nine kills and led the team with nine digs.
 
* Pesognelli added six kills to go along with her five aces. 
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 20th meeting between Holy Family and Dominican since the start of the 2003 season.  The Tigers are now 11-9 versus the Chargers in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 3 as the Tigers travel to face Wilmington University in a CACC contest. Match is set for 7 p.m.
