How It Happened (Minnesota State)

* Holy Family jumped out to an early 3-0 lead against the nation's top team.  Senior Taylor Favinger (Deptford, N.J./Gloucester County Inst. of Tech.) connected on a solo home run for the first run of the inning before junior Sam Klem (San Diego, Calif./Clairemont) and senior Alyssa Cudeyro (Sicklerville, N.J./Washington Twp.) recorded back-to-back run scoring singles later in the inning.

* Minnesota State responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning but the Tigers kept the pressure on with single runs in the second and third.  Senior Koreen Orozco (Whittier, Calif./St. Paul) recorded a run scoring double in the second, while sophomore Kelsey Marigliano (Seaford, N.Y./Plainledge) came through with a RBI single in the third to give the Tigers a 5-2 lead.

* The Mavs would go on to cut the lead down to 5-4 with two runs in the third inning.  Then a big four-run inning by Minnesota State broke the game open as the Mavs took their first lead of the game at 8-5.
