Tigers Take Down Warriors, 20-13



Nyack N.Y. - The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season after defeating Nyack College, 20-13, in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Thursday afternoon at Moseley Field.

How It Happened

* Holy Family jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead as junior Devon Felix (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) opened the scoring followed by a pair of goals by senior Rose Bachmayer (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan). Leading 5-3 at the 17:34 mark Holy Family scored another three consecutive goals to grab an 8-3 lead with just over 10 minutes remaining in the half.

* Both teams exchanged a pair of goals to close out the half as Holy Family took a 10-5 lead heading into halftime.

* In the second half the Tigers maintained the lead throughout without relinquishing the lead to Nyack. Holy Family led by as many as seven goals midway through the half when sophomore Casey Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) fired a shot into the back of net to make the score 15-8.

* Nyack cut the lead down to five (17-12) with a goal from Tori Silvers with less than five minutes to play, but back-to-back scores by Bachmayer increased the lead back to seven with three minutes remaining.

Game Notes

* Bachmayer once again led the Holy Family offense as she exploded for a season-high six goals on eight shot attempts, while assisting on two others. She also picked up four ground balls and caused two turnovers on defense.

* Brown set a career-high with six points on four goals and two assists.

* Junior Dana Trevito (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) finished with a season-high seven points after scoring three goals and dishing out four assists.

* Junior Caleigh Gallagher (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) scored her first two collegiate goals while picking up four ground balls and causing a team-best three turnovers.

* Junior Devon Felix (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) scored three goals and led the team with six draws.

* Senior goalkeeper Amber Frechette (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) tied her career-high with 17 saves. It marked the second straight game she stopped 17 shots.

* As a team Holy Family set new season-highs in shots (37), shot percentage (.541), goals (20), assists (8) and ground balls (24).

* Julianna Kranes led the Warriors with four goals… Silvers finished with three goals and a game-high six assists for nine points.

Quest for 100
With her six-goal performance, Bachmayer now has 93 career goals and is seven scores away from becoming the eighth player in program history to reach the 100-career goals mark.

All-Time Series
Today marked the sixth meeting between Holy Family and Nyack since the start of the 2013 season. The Tigers remain undefeated against the Warriors with a 6-0 record in the series.

Holy Family returns to action on Wednesday, April 4 as the Tigers travel to face city rival Chestnut Hill College in a CACC contest. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
