Tigers Rally to Defeat Golden Falcons in Five Sets; Advance to CACC Semifinals



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to defeat Felician University in five sets in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) quarterfinals on Tuesday evening from inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.

How It Happened
 
* Holy Family rallied from a 2-1 deficit to force a fifth and decisive set.  The Tigers took the fourth set by the score 25-15.  In the fifth set, senior Chase Wassel (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) recorded six kills to lead the attack.  With the set tied at 8-8, the Tigers pulled off three straight points to take an 11-8 lead.  After a Felician point, the Tigers rallied off another three points with Wassel connecting on two kills.  The Tigers then clinched the match with a kill from Wassel winning the set, 15-10.
 
News and Notes
 
* Wassel led the match with 27 kills to go along with 15 digs.  With her performance tonight she now has 557 kills this season setting a new single season program record.
 
* Freshman Morgan Silks (Norristown, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) paced the offense with a match-high 53 kills while recording 12 defensive digs.
 
* Senior Jaime Bonner (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) came away with 12 kills and two solo blocks.
 
* Junior Gianna Pesognelli (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle) had double-digit kills with 10 to go along with four aces.
 
* Junior Jillian Boyle (North Andover, Mass./North Andover (Rivier College)) led the team with 16 digs.
 
* Felician's Sierra Gallagher totaled a match-high 27 digs, while Kahea Aea led the team with 11 kills and 11 digs.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 18th meeting between Holy Family and Felician dating back to the 2004 season.  The Tigers are now 17-1 versus the Golden Falcons in the all-time series.  
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 10 as the Tigers face Caldwell University in the CACC semifinals.  Match time is set for 1 p.m.  Georgian Court University will serve as host of the semifinals and finals.  More details on the CACC semifinals will be available later this week.
