Tigers Fall to Cougars in CACC Championship Game, 2-0



Waterbury, Conn. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team came up short in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship game versus fourth-seeded Caldwell College by the score of 2-0 on Sunday morning at LaMoy Field on the campus of Post University.

How It Happened
 
* Caldwell grabbed the game's first and only lead early in the first half.  Carlyn Salus scored off an assist from Amber Raines in the 19th minute. 
 
* The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Cougars until midway through the second half when Caldwell doubled its lead.  This time it was Meghan Grundhauser who came away with the goal in the 64th minute to make the score 2-0. Grundhauser would go on to be named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
 
* Holy Family out shot Caldwell by an 18-6 margin but was unable to get anything by goalkeeper Jamie-Lee Bamford who made seven saves for the Cougars. 
 
News and Notes
 
* Seniors Bree Rock (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) and Stefanie Ulmer (Philadelphia, Pa./Delaware Valley HS Center City) along with freshman Jacqueline Ziegler (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy) were named to the CACC All-Tournament team.
 
* Rock finished her career as the program's third highest scorer with 124 career points.  She also finished tied for third with 52 career goals. In addition, Rock is the program's all-time leader with 21 game-winning goals.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 27th meeting between Holy Family and Caldwell dating back to the 1999 season.  The Tigers are now 20-6-1 versus the Cougars in the all-time series.  It also marked the eighth time both teams have faced one another in the postseason.
 
Postseason History
Holy Family was appearing in its 20th consecutive CACC Tournament and 12th conference championship game since joining the CACC in 1999.  The Tigers are now 30-9-3 overall in the CACC Tournament and 8-4-0.
