Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team made quick work of city rival Chestnut Hill College with a 3-0 victory in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Thursday night inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.

How It Happened
 
* The Tigers recorded a match-high 15 kills in the first set to set the tone.  Holy Family went on to finish the night with 36 compared to only 18 by the Griffins.  The Tigers trailed the opening set 5-2 early on but used a 6-0 run to take an 8-5 lead.  From there they never relinquished the lead in the set and would close out the set scoring eight of the final 12 points for the 25-15 victory.
 
* In the second set the Tigers opened with a 9-1 run and never looked back.  Holy Family took advantage of eight attack errors by the Griffins on its way to a 25-13 set two win.
 
* Holy Family clinched the match with another double-digit set victory.  The Tigers took the third set by the score of 25-15.  Holy Family used an 8-2 run midway through the set to grab a 19-10 lead. 
 
News and Notes
 
* Senior Chase Wassel (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) totaled 16 kills with a .375 hitting percentage.  She also recorded seven digs and two aces. 
 
* Freshman Morgan Silks (Norristown, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) led the match with 26 assists to go along with seven digs and two aces.
 
* Junior Jillian Boyle (North Andover, Mass./North Andover (Rivier College)) totaled a match-high 12 digs.
 
* Senior Jaime Bonner (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) added six kills and two block assists.
 
* Freshman Caitlin Griffin (St. Paul, Minn./South St. Paul) totaled four kills and seven digs.
 
* As a team Holy Family recorded 12 aces with junior Gianna Pesognelli (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle) leading the way with five of them.  It marked the fourth straight match that the Tigers recorded double-digit aces.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 24th meeting between Holy Family and Chestnut Hill since the start of the 2007 season.  The Tigers are now 23-1 versus the Griffins and have won the last nine match ups.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 6 as the Tigers travel to face Bloomfield College in a CACC contest.  Match time is set for 12 p.m.
