Baker’s Dozen! Tigers Win 13th Straight Setting New Program Record



Bronxville, N.Y. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team rolled past Concordia College for the team's 13th straight victory in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Wednesday night.  The Tigers' 3-0 victory also secured a spot in next month's CACC Tournament.

How It Happened
 
* Holy Family dominated offensively as the Tigers recorded 59 points in the match to 23 collected by the Clippers.  The Tigers finished with 43 kills while recording a .360 hitting percentage on the night.
 
* The Tigers' defense limited the Clippers to just 17 kills and a low .023 hitting percentage; the third lowest allowed by the defense this season. Holy Family also held a 44-23 edge on defensive digs.
 
News and Notes
 
* Holy Family officially clinched a spot in next month's CACC Tournament marking the team's 11th appearance in program history and sixth straight. 
 
* Tonight's win marked the team's 13th straight of the season setting a new program record surpassing the 12 match winning streaks by the 2010 & 2011 teams.
 
* Senior Chase Wassel (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) led the team with 17 kills with a .433 hitting percentage.  Junior Gianna Pesognelli (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle) added nine kills while hitting at a .538 clip.  Freshman Caitlin Griffin (St. Paul, Minn./South St. Paul) produced six digs while committing no errors on the attack (.667%).
 
* Freshman Morgan Silks (Norristown, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll) paced the offense with a match-high 38 assists. Junior Jillian Boyle (North Andover, Mass./North Andover (Rivier College)) led the team with a match-high 13 digs on defense.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 12th meeting between Holy Family and Concordia since the start of the 2004 season.  The Tigers are now 10-2 versus the Clippers and have won the last 10 meetings in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 20 as the Tigers travel to face city rival in a key CACC South Division contest.  Match time is set for 1 p.m.
