Tigers Defeat Rams in Non-Conference Action, 3-1



Shepherdstown, W.Va. - Freshman Jacqueline Ziegler (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy) scored a pair of goals as the Holy Family University women's soccer team defeated Shepherd University, 3-1, in a non-conference contest on Tuesday afternoon at the SU Soccer Complex.

How It Happened
 
* Ziegler scored the first of her two goals in the eighth minute to give the Tigers an early 1-0 lead.  Sophomore Hannah Derby (Pitman, N.J./Pitman) assisted on the score.
 
* The Tigers doubled their lead later in the half when senior Bree Rock (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) connected on her conference leading 16th goal of the season in the 27th minute.  Senior Alyssa Christiansen (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) set the score up as she was credited with the assist.
 
* Leading 2-0 early in the second half, Ziegler gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead in the 60th minute with her second goal of the game and fifth of the season.  Sophomore Alexa Teschko (Clayton, N.J./Clayton) recorded the assist on the goal.
 
* Shepherd spoiled the Tigers' shutout bid when Madison Michael scored the Rams' lone goal in the 75th minute; her second of the season.
 
News and Notes
 
* Rock's goal in the 28th minute marked her 49th career goal and 117th career point.  She now holds the program's NCAA Division II era record for most career goals as well as career points.  Holy Family has been part of Division II since the start of the 2003 season.
 
* Sophomore Brianna Pudlo (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert) earned the win in net for the Tigers as she made four saves in net. 
 
All-Time Series
Today marked just the third meeting between Holy Family and Shepherd and the first since the 2011 season.  The Tigers are now 3-0-0 versus the Rams in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 20 as the Tigers host Caldwell University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest.  Game time is set for 5 p.m. Due to field conditions at Tiger Field the game will now be played at Bryn Athyn College.
