Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball dropped its first match of the season after falling to West Chester University, 3-0, in a non-conference match on Wednesday evening inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.

How It Happened
* In the first set Holy Family cut into the West Chester lead and came within one point of the lead after running off four straight points to make the score 12-11.  However, West Chester followed by scoring five of the next six points to grab a 17-12 advantage.  From there, the Golden Rams managed to keep the Tigers far enough away from a potential comeback to take the set, 25-21.
 
* The second set was a back-and-forth battle early as neither team taking full control. With the set tied at 12-12, the Golden Rams scored three straight points to lead 15-12 and from there never relinquished the lead. West Chester followed with four consecutive points to grab the biggest lead of the set at 19-13 before closing out the set, 25-18.
 
*  Holy Family came within one point of the lead midway through the set after a kill by junior Jamie Bonner made the score 10-9.  However, West Chester responded by scoring six of the next seven points to lead 16-10.  Later in the set the Tigers rallied with five straight points to cut the lead down to 22-21. After both teams exchanged points, the Golden Rams tallied the final two points to clinch the match with a 25-22 victory in the third set.

Holy Family: Bonner finished the match with 10 kills and an impressive .333 attack percentage… Junior Chase Wassel (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) also totaled 10 kills to go along with eight digs... Sophomore Gianna Pesognelli (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle) finished with eight kills after recording an attack percentage of .350… Freshman Carly Covington (Delmar, Md./Delmar) led the team with 16 digs while also producing seven kills.
 
West Chester: Karleigh Lutz led the match with 14 kills to go along with 13 digs on defense…Abbie Dischert came away with 11 kills and a .588 attack percentage… Jilliam Grammer had a match-high 32 assists and added eight digs.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 18th meeting all-time between Holy Family and West Chester. The Golden Rams are now 17-1 versus the Tigers and have won the last five matches.
 
Next Up
Holy Family will take part in the annual Wildcat Invitational hosted by Wilmington University beginning on Friday.  The Tigers will face Franklin Pierce University (3 p.m.) and Adelphi University (7 p.m.) on day one.
