How It Happened

* With the game tied at 48-48 with :19 seconds remaining, Jefferson's Kylan Guerra drained a three-pointer on the other end of a timeout to give the Rams a 52-48 lead.  On the following Holy Family possession the Rams fouled before the Tigers were able get off a three-point shot to potentially tie the game.  Sophomore Maliq Sanders (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) knocked down both free throws with four seconds left on the clock.  Holy Family instantly fouled to extend the game as Jefferson's Alexander Gorton converted both his attempts to once again give the Rams a three-point lead.  Jefferson followed with the same plan on the Tigers' next possession as junior Mekhi Bryant (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsburg (Baltimore City C.C.)) was followed with less than two seconds to play.  Bryant converted both his free throws to make it a one-point game again.  Knowing the Tigers were going to foul the Rams attempted a deep inbounds pass down court.  Holy Family managed to foul Gorton with fourth-tenths of a second left on the clock.  Gorton made his first attempt but missed his second.  Sanders grabbed the defensive board but was unable to get off a desperation shot before the final buzzer.

* Holy Family trailed 34-30 at the half but opened the second half on a 12-2 run to grab a 42-35 lead by the 12:24 mark after a layup basket by Sanders. After back-to-back scores by the Rams made the score 42-40, the Tigers scored six straight points to lead 48-40 with 5:12 to play.  Jefferson would go on to tie the game at 48-48 at the 2:18 mark when Guerra knocked down a three setting up a thrilling final two minutes.
