Tigers Fall to Wildcats in CACC Semifinals



Lakewood, N.J. - The Holy Family University women's soccer team saw its season come to an end after falling to second-seeded Wilmington University, 3-1, in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) semifinals on Friday afternoon on the campus of Georgian Court University.

How It Happened
 
* Holy Family struck first with a goal in the eighth minute of action.  Freshman Cailey Plath dribbled around the Wilmington goalkeeper and fed senior Shannon Metlzer with a pass.  Metzler in return found a wide open net for her seventh goal of the season.
 
* Wilmington tied the game in the 19th minute when Alexa Smalley scored her first goal of the season.  The Wildcats would go on to grab the lead in the 27th minute when Loran Wyrough came through with her 10th goal on the year and eventual game-winner score.

* The Wildcats tacked on one more goal in the 87th minute with a score from Jessica Unsihuay, her second of the season.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 24th meeting between Holy Family and Wilmington dating back to the 2000 season. The Tigers are now 19-5-0 versus the Wildcats in that span.  It was also the sixth meeting in the postseason between the two schools with Holy Family winning the previous five match ups.
 
Holy Family in the CACC Tournament
The women's soccer team has qualified for the CACC Tournament in each season since Holy Family joined the conference in 1999.  The Tigers own a 28-8-3 record in the postseason and have won eight conference championships.
