Tigers Set to Host Nyack in CACC Quarterfinals

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team will be opening the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament Tuesday night versus Nyack College in front of its home fans inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.  Match time is set for 7 p.m.
 
Tickets for the match are $6 for adults and $3 for children, senior citizens and students with valid ID.  Children under the age of three are admitted free of charge.

Scouting Holy Family
The Holy Family offense has been one of the most proficient in the CACC this season.  The Tigers enter the postseason averaging 12.43 kills per set; second most in the CACC and are fourth in attack percentage at .175.  Holy Family leads the conference in assists per set at 11.82 and has totaled 1,217 assists; second only to Nyack who has totaled 1,233.  Junior Chase Wassel (North Wales, Pa., Lansdale Catholic) leads the conference with 4.30 kills per set through the regular season.  Sophomore Gianna Pesognelli (Phoenix, Ariz., Pinnacle) is averaging 2.51 kills per set and sophomore Jaime Bonner (Warminster, Pa., William Tennent) has averaged 2.21 kills during the course of the season.  Junior Natalie Stewart (York, Pa., York Catholic)is second in the CACC with 9.76 assists per set and is fourth overall with 683 total assists.  Senior Kacie Brien (Turnersville, N.J., Washington Township) is also among the conference leaders in assist as she is averaging 8.84 per set; fourth best in the CACC.
 
Defensively, the Tigers have been just as efficient.  Holy Family ranks second in the CACC with 17.00 digs per set and are eighth in total blocks with 1.38 per set. Sophomore Jillian Boyle (North Andover, Mass., North Andover (Rivier College)) ranks fourth in the CACC with 4.14 digs per set. She is one of five players in the conference that averaged over 4.0 digs per set during the regular season.  Wassel is averaging 3.56 digs; 12th best in the conference. Up front Holy Family has three players that have totaled 50-plus blocks apiece this season.  Pesognelli and Wassel each have 54 total blocks, while junior Kailyn McNamee (Wayne, Pa., Upper Merion) has 52.  All three rank in the top-20 among the conference leaders.
 
Scouting Nyack
The Tigers will have their hands filled with the Nyack attack as the Warriors lead the CACC with 1,346 kills.  Kyra Zuhlke leads the team with 2.71 kills per set, while Alexus Winters is averaging 2.32. The Warriors have also been successful on the serve totaling 241 aces this season; second most in the CACC.  Rachel Medin leads the team with 55 aces. Nyack has three players that have totaled over 300 digs, including British Dawson with the team lead at 370.  Winters has recorded 331 digs and Medin has totaled 309.

All-Time Series
Holy Family and Nyack have met 18 times dating back to the 2003 season.  The Tigers are 11-7 versus the Warriors in the series after Nyack came away with a 3-2 victory earlier this season.  This marks the first meeting between the two teams in the CACC Tournament.

The Tigers are making their 10th appearance all-time in the CACC Tournament and fifth straight.  Holy Family is 6-9 all-time in the conference tournament with appearances in the 2007, 2010 and 2011 championship final.
