Tigers Edged by Lions in Regular Season Finale



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University men's soccer team dropped its final regular season contest of the season after falling to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe Georgian Court University by the score of 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Tiger Field.

How It Happened
 
* Georgian Court opened with two early goals in the first half to take a 2-0 advantage in the game.  The Lions received goals from Arturo Sanchez and Joel Quist in the 16th and 26th minutes respectively. 
 
* The Lions added to their lead in the second half when Michael Tapp scored his first goal of the season to make the score 3-0 in the 66th minute.
 
* Holy Family in the 66th minute after Georgian Court committed a foul inside the box.  Senior Mariano Cepeda (Philadelphia, Pa. (Argentina)/Roman Catholic) took the penalty kick for the Tigers and converted to cut the lead down to 3-1.  It marked Cepeda's third goal of the season. 
 
* In the final minute of action a corner kick opportunity by the Tigers turned into a score as Cepeda was credited with the assist on the attempt.  Cepeda's corner kick was received by freshman Mike Smith (Southampton, Pa./Archbishop Wood) who in turn scored his team leading sixth goal of the season. 
 
* With time against them, the Tigers were unable to find the opportunity to get off another shot as the Lions held on to the one goal victory.
 
* Junior goalkeeper Mark Pohl (Feasterville, Pa./Father Judge) finished the day with eight saves in net for the Tigers bringing his season total to 96 saves, which currently ranks tops in the CACC.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the fifth meeting all-time between Holy Family and Georgian Court since the start of the 2013 season.  The Tigers are now 2-3-0 versus the Lions in the series.
