Tigers Sweep Chargers in CACC Match



Orangeburg, N.Y. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team won its fourth straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest after defeating Dominican College, 3-0, in conference action on Tuesday night inside the Hennessy Center.

*  As a team Holy Family finished the match with its second highest attack percentage of the year hitting at a clip of .378- percent. The Tigers recorded a season-low six errors in the process and came away with 37 total kills. 
 
* The defense was just as productive holding Dominican to just 18 points.  The Chargers committed 15 errors on the attack and finished with a -.026 attack percentage.  It marks the third time this season that the Tigers held a team to a negative attack percentage.  The Tigers made five total blocks and had 42 digs.

Holy Family: Junior Chase Wassel (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) led the Tigers with 12 kills and 11 digs, while collecting three of the team's 11 service aces… Sophomore Gianna Pesognelli (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle) totaled eight kills to go along with a pair of aces and two block assists… Freshman Carly Covington (Delmar, Md./Delmar) finished with seven kills after boasting an attack percentage of .538… Covington also totaled 10 digs… Senior Kacie Brien (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Township) led the team with 18 assists to go along with six digs.
 
Dominican: Gabrielle Napoleon registered five kills on the night to lead the Chargers… Deanna Knopf added four kills and four digs… Natalia Perez led the match with 18 digs.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 19th meeting all-time between Holy Family and Dominican since the 2003 season.  The Tigers are now 10-9 versus the Chargers.
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 21 as the Tigers host Bloomfield College in a CACC contest. Game time is set for 12 p.m. inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.
