Tigers Drop Non-Conference Tilt to Shippensburg



Philadelphia, Pa. - Shippensburg University scored three second half goals to get the better of the Holy Family University men's soccer team as the Raiders came away with a 4-1 victory in a non-conference contest on Wednesday afternoon at Tiger Field.

How It Happened
After Shippensburg opened the scoring in the initial few minutes of the game, a goal by Cole Kropnick, Holy Family went on to tie the game at 1-1 later in the half.  Senior Mariano Cepeda (Philadelphia, Pa. (Argentina)/Roman Catholic) collected a loose ball inside the box and found sophomore Matthew McWilliams (Trevose, Pa./Archbishop Wood) as he drove the ball into the back of the net for his first collegiate score in the 38th minute.
 
The score remained tied up entering the second half until back-to-back goals by Shippensburg in the 56th and 59th minutes gave the Raiders a 3-1 advantage.  Colten Arnold tallied his first of two goals in the half, while Alejandro Fernandez scored the later goal.  Arnold would later score in the 82nd minute to increase the Raiders' lead to three goals at 4-1.
 
Inside the Box Score
Holy Family: McWilliams scored the team's lone goal of the game marking his first score in his collegiate career.  The Tigers tallied 12 shots in the game but struggled to be on target as only five shots were on goal.  Senior Justin Hiltwine (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) led the team with four shots with one on-goal. Holy Family held the advantage on corner kicks with a 7-4 margin.  Sophomore goalkeeper Mark Pohl (Feasterville, Pa./Father Judge) finished with four saves in net.
 
Shippensburg: Arnold led all scorers with six points on the afternoon as he finished with two goals and two assists. Garret Watson picked up his third win of the season in net as he made four saves. McWilliams' goal was the first goal surrendered by Watson this season.
 
Next Up
Holy Family will open Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action as the Tigers travel to face Concordia College on Saturday, Sept. 10.  Game time is slated for 2 p.m. in Bronxville, N.Y.
