Rock Records Hat-Trick in Tigers 7-0 Shutout Victory



Philadelphia, Pa. - Sophomore Brianna Rock (Bensalem, Pa./Bensalem) recorded her first career hat-trick as the Holy Family University women's soccer team defeated Dominican College by the score of 7-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Saturday afternoon at Tiger Field.

How it Happened
Rock scored the first of her three goals in the 16th minute of action to give the Tigers an early 1-0 lead.  Holy Family pressured the Dominican defense the entire afternoon as the Tigers launched a season-high 36 shots, including 19 in the first half. Despite all the shots the score stayed 1-0 in favor of the Tigers until the 42nd minute.  Redshirt sophomore Stefanie Ulmer (Philadelphia, Pa./Delaware Valley HS Center City) scored the first of her two goals on the afternoon to double the Tigers' lead 2-0 prior to halftime.
 
In the second half, Holy Family recorded five goals in an 11-minute span.  Senior Ashley Shackleford (Burlington, N.J./Holy Cross HS) tallied a pair of goals between Ulmer's second tally, while Rock capped the scoring with back-to-back goals in the 72nd and 74th minute. 
 
Inside the Box Score
Holy Family: Rock led the team with a career-high seven points on the afternoon (3G/1A), while Ulmer and Shackleford each finished with two goals and one assist for five points apiece.  The Tigers controlled all aspects of the game, including shots (36-9), shots on-goal (20-5) and corner kicks (5-2).  Senior goalkeeper Sienna Smith (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Regional) made five saves in net while picking up her first shutout of the season and the 15th in her career.
 
Dominican: Sophomore goalkeeper Angelica Contreras totaled 13 saves in net for the Chargers.  Fellow sophomore Taylor Calero led the team with three shots in the game with two being on-goal. 
 
Next Up
Holy Family returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 20 as the Tigers travel to face Queens College in a non-conference contest.  Game time is slated for 4 p.m. in Flushing, N.Y.
