Tigers Drop Season Opener to Mercy, 16-3

Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. - The Holy Family University women's lacrosse team dropped its season opener at Mercy College by the score of 16-3 in a non-conference contest on Saturday afternoon at Mercy Field.

How We Got Here

Mercy opened the scoring in the first nine minutes of play with a goal by sophomore Grace Davidson. From there the Mavericks would go on to score six unanswered goals. Holy Family got on the board after senior Paige Settar (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) scored a free-position goal.

Freshman Devon Felix (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) scored her first collegiate goal after an assist by senior Nicole Braungart (Medford, N.J./Bishop Eustace). Felix went on to pick up three ground balls, three draw controls and caused one turnover. 

Davidson sent the Mavericks into halftime leading 9-2. Mercy went on to open up the second half scoring seven goals. Braungart would answer with a goal of her own in the last five minutes of the game.

Holy Family: Braungart led the Tigers' with two points after recording a goal and an assist. She also picked up a groundball and caused one turnover. Felix tallied one goal, three groundballs, one caused turnover and three draw controls. Senior Ashley Magagna (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) recorded two groundballs and one caused turnover. Senior Grace Deckert (Jarrettsville, Md./Fallston) played 49:08 while picking up nine saves in net.
