How It Happened
Defense was on display in the CACC semifinals as Holy Family and Caldwell battled to a 0-0 scoreless regulation followed by two scoreless overtime periods.  Senior goalkeeper Sienna Smith (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville Regional) faced 15 shots by the Cougars and made seven saves in net for the Tigers.  Her counterpart, Kylie Whalen, made three saves for the Cougars.

Smith came away with two big saves in the second overtime period to preserve the tie.  Caldwell launched back-to-back shots on net in the 104th and 105th minute and both times Smith made the stop.  In the 106th minute the Cougars had another opportunity inside the box but a shot by Haley Kopf was blocked by a Holy Family defender.

Redshirt sophomore Stefanie Ulmer (Philadelphia, Pa./Delaware Valley HS Center City) fired a shot on-goal with less than :15 seconds to play in the second overtime but Whalen came up with the save as the game headed to the penalty kick shootout.

In the penalty kick shootout Caldwell converted its first three attempts to defeat Holy Family, 3-1, to advance to the CACC Championship game.  The Cougars will face top-seed and host Georgian Court on Sunday for the conference title.
