How It Happened
Holy Family made quick work of USciences as the Tigers came away with three straight victories to earn the sweep in the match.  In the first set, Holy Family was led by sophomore Chase Wassel (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) who recorded nine of her match-high 18 kills in the opening set.  The Tigers as a team produced a .393 attack percentage with 16 kills in the first set. Holy Family trailed 2-0 in the opening plays of the set but then used a 9-1 run to take full control. The Tigers led by as many as eight points (23-15) before winning the set by nine points, 25-16.

The Devils once again opened the set with back-to-back points but the Tigers followed suit with the first set and eventually took command of the set.  After a Holy Family attack error brought the Devils to within one point (10-9) of the lead, the Tigers ripped off six straight points to lead 16-8.  From there, Holy Family went on to outscore the Devils, 9-6, the rest of the way to take the set, 25-15.

The third set turned out to be the most competitive set of the three.  USciences held a 10-6 advantage midway through before Holy Family rallied to score five straight points to take an 11-10 advantage. However, three consecutive points for the Devils, all courtesy of Holy Family errors, gave USciences the lead right back at 13-11.

Holy Family bounced back and came through with six straight points to lead 17-13.  From there, Holy Family held the Devils off and never relinquished the lead back.  The Tigers took the set 25-19 after back-to-back kills from sophomore Candyce Riley (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) and Wassel clinched the victory.

Inside the Box Score
Holy Family: Wassel totaled 18 kills on the evening while also picking up six digs.  Her 18 kills brought her season total to 397; three shy of 400, which would make her just, the fourth player in program history to record 400-plus kills in a single season. Sophomore Jaime Bonner (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) boasted a .357 attack percentage while recording seven kills.  Freshman Gianna Pesognelli (Phoenix, Ariz./Pinnacle) was on target as she totaled six kills on 10 attempts for a .600 attack percentage.  Junior Kacie Brien (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Township) led the team with 35 assists and four service aces, while sophomore Kelly Bergen (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) finished with a match-high 11 digs.

USciences: Brooke Witmer was the Devils' top offensive player as she finished with five kills.  Christine Irerra totaled seven digs, while Meghan Neff finished with 14 assists and six digs.
