How It Happened
An 8-1 surge in the first set by Caldwell to break a 3-3 tie set the tone early for the Cougars.  Caldwell then produced an 8-0 run later in the set to grab its biggest lead at 23-8.  The Cougars would go on to take the first set by the score of 25-12.  In the second set, Caldwell led from beginning to end with its biggest lead coming at 18-11 after a kill by Auyong.  The Cougars grabbed a 2-0 match lead with a 25-16 victory in set two.

Caldwell clinched the match with a two-point victory in the third set.  The Cougars opened with a 5-0 run and led the set throughout until the Tigers scored five unanswered points late in the set.  Holy Family's late surge gave the team a 21-20 advantage.  However, Caldwell responded with four straight points to grab the lead right back at 24-21.  With the match in jeopardy, Holy Family quickly produced two points to come within one point of tying the set.  The Tigers took advantage of an attack error by the Cougars and Wassel's 18th and final kill of the day to come within striking distance of tying the set.

Despite the two late rallies the Tigers fell short once Auyong closed the match out with her 14th kill to give the Cougars the 25-23 win in the third set.
