How It Happened
In the first set Holy Family made a statement late as the Tigers broke a 19-19 tie by scoring six unanswered points to take the first set, 25-19.  Holy Family recorded four kills, including three by sophomore Chase Wassel (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) during that span.  Wassel recorded eight of her match-high 16 kills in the first set alone.  Senior Katelyn Scherber (Woodbridge, Va./Forest Park) also added an ace to the mix and the Tigers took advantage of a ball handling error by the Wildcats to fuel the late surge.

Despite dropping the first set, the Wildcats opened the next set with a 7-1 run but that didn't hold the Tigers back.  Holy Family chipped away at the Wilmington lead before scoring six consecutive points to grab its first advantage since opening the set leading, 1-0.  Back-to-back service aces capped the rally as Holy Family led 17-14.

Wilmington grabbed the lead back two more times in the set before the Tigers came through late again scoring four of the final five points to take the set, 25-23.  A kill by Scherber broke a 23-23 tie before the Tigers clinched the set thanks to an attack error by the Wildcats.

In the third set the Tigers trailed 14-11 midway through before scoring eight of the next 10 points to grab a 19-16 lead.  The Wildcats came within two points later in the set after a kill by Elle Harris.  Holy Family wouldn't let Wilmington get any closer as the Tigers scored three straight points including four of the next five to win the set, 25-20.
