Tigers Outlast Devils, 62-56



Philadelphia, Pa. - Redshirt Reggie Charles (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) and senior Marvin Crawford (Edison, N.J./J.P. Stevens) combined for 40 points as the Holy Family University men's basketball team defeated the University of the Sciences by the score of 62-56 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division contest on Wednesday night inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.

How We Got Here
Holy Family grabbed the lead for good with five minutes remaining in regulation in what turned out to be a back-and-forth game between two division rivals.  With the game tied 51-51 with just over five minutes to play in regulation, Charles converted a pair of free throws to give the Tigers the slim advantage. 
 
Charles finished the game with 19 points, while Crawford added a game-high 21 points to lead the Holy Family offense.  The two combined for 11-of-24 shooting from the field and 13-of-18 from the free throw line. 
 
Holy Family went on to outscore the Devils, 11-4, in the final five minutes to come through with its second straight victory and fifth in its last six games.

Holy Family: Charles and Crawford accounted for 40 of the team's 62 points… Charles also finished with six assists and four rebounds, while Crawford filled the stat sheet with eight rebounds, four steals and one block…Senior Derrick Stewart (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) grabbed a team-high 14 rebounds and blocked a pair of shots… Senior Hunter Wysocki (Howell, N.J./Colts Neck) added nine points and four rebounds.
 
USciences: Senior Wes Kerr led the Devils' offense with 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field, including a game-best 5-of-7 from deep range… Sophomore Will Gregorits recorded a double-double with an 18-point/14-rebound performance.

Holy Family is now a perfect 6-0 at home after its win over the Devils.  The Tigers are 9-4 outside the Campus Center this season.
 
Lock Down Defense
Holy Family entered tonight's game ranked second in Division II in field-goal percentage defense.  The Tigers are limiting opponents to just 36.8-percent shooting from the field. The team is also ranked ninth nationally in blocked shots per game (5.2).
