Wildcats Shutout Tigers, 3-0



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 defeat by visiting Wilmington University by the score of 3-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Tuesday night inside the Campus Center Gymnasium.  The Wildcats won the match by the scores of 29-27, 25-21 and 25-17.
 
Holy Family is now 2-13 overall and 1-4 in the CACC, while Wilmington improves to 10-5 overall and 4-1 in conference action.
 
Senior Rachel Johnson (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) led the Tigers with 15 kills to go along with 12 digs.  Johnson totaled eight of her 15 kills in the back-and-forth first set.  Freshman Chase Wassel (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic) also recorded double-figures in kills for the Tigers as she finished with 11.  Wassel also led the team with 21 digs.
 
Senior Emma Herring (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) finished with six kills, while freshman Candyce Riley (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) totaled 18 digs on defense.  Sophomore Cecilia Weir (Warminster, Pa./William Tennant) registered 17 digs and freshman Natalie Stewart (York, Pa./York Catholic) totaled 34 assists to go along with seven digs.
 
For Wilmington, junior Allison Briley and sophomore Kaitlin DiGiacinto each totaled nine kills in the win.  Briley also finished with 11 digs, while DiGiacinto finished with 15 digs.  Freshman Miranda Shaw led the team with 26 assists to go along with three kills, two service aces and 11 digs.  Senior Alex Siolos finished with eight kills and 16 digs.  
 
Holy Family is back in action on Thursday, Oct. 1 as the Tigers travel to face cross-town rival Philadelphia University in a CACC contest.  Match time is slated for 6 p.m.
