Tigers Fall to Cross-Town Rival Philadelphia, 3-0



Philadelphia, Pa. - The Holy Family University women's volleyball dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest to its cross-town rival, Philadelphia University, by the score of 3-0 on Thursday night inside the Gallagher Center.  The Rams won the match by the scores of 25-20, 25-18 and 25-15.
 
Holy Family is now 2-14 overall and 1-5 in the CACC, while Philadelphia improves to 8-4 overall and 4-1 in conference action.
 
The Holy Family attack was led by senior Rachel Johnson (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way West) and freshman Chase Wassel (North Wales, Pa./Lansdale Catholic).  Johnson led the team with eight kills to go along with five digs, while Wassel totaled seven kills and seven digs.  Freshman Candyce Riley (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) totaled double-figures in digs as she led the team with 10.
 
Redshirt junior Erin Miller (Chandler, Ariz. /Corona del sol) totaled five kills on the night, while freshman Natalie Stewart (York, Pa./York Catholic) led the team with 13 assists.
 
For Philadelphia, Courtney Wensel led the match with 12 kills as the Rams recorded a .272 attack percentage as a team for the match.  Wensel also finished with 11 digs as she tied for the match-high with teammate Michele Chai.  Chelsea Hughes finished with nine kills.
 
Holy Family is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 3 as the Tigers travel to face Felician College in a CACC contest.  Match time is slated for 1 p.m.
