Tigers End Regular Season Undefeated in CACC Action



Hillburn, N.Y. - Juniors Erin Harmer (Philadelphia, Pa./Nazareth Academy) and Paige Settar (Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional) each scored five goals to help lead the Holy Family University women's lacrosse team to a 19-12 victory at Dominican College in the final Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest on Saturday afternoon at the Torne Valley Complex. 
 
With the win, the Tigers finish regular season play with a 12-3 overall mark and 8-0 finish in conference play marking the first undefeated season in program history.  Dominican is now 4-10 overall and closes out conference play at 4-4.
 
Harmer's five scores on the afternoon set a new career-high.  Settar also tallied five goals to go along with three draw controls and three caused turnovers.  Senior Brianna Lancetta (Marlton, N.J./Bishop Eustace) added three goals to go along with three ground balls and four draws.
 
Sophomore Kacie Booth (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) recorded a career-high eight ground balls and finished with three caused turnovers.  She also scored a goal and assisted on another.  Senior Kimber Kisselback (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) caused a pair of turnovers to increase her season total to 18 setting a new career-high.
 
For Dominican, Allison Smithwick led the team with seven points after scoring five goals and dishing out two assists.  Smithwick also picked up five ground balls.  Gina Sparaco added four scores to go along with three ground balls and four draws.
 
Holy Family pulled away from Dominican after the game was tied 2-2 early in the first half.  After the Chargers tied the game at the 24:40 mark, Harmer responded with her first goal of the game less than :30 seconds later to jump-start a 5-0 run for the Tigers.
 
Junior Nicole Braungart (Medford, N.J./Bishop Eustace) capped the run with a goal midway through the half (15:12) to give the Tigers a 7-2 advantage.  Braungart finished the game with two goals and four draw controls. 
 
Holy Family would go on to lead 9-4 at halftime.
 
In the second half, the Tigers scored four of the first give goals to increase their lead to as many as eight goals.  Lancetta came through with a goal at the 24:56 mark to make the score 13-5.
 
Despite Holy Family outscoring the Chargers by only two goals in the half (10-8), Dominican was unable to recover from the early deficit.  The Tigers increased the lead back to eight goals (18-10) late in the half after back-to-back scores by Lancetta and Harmer with less than ten minutes to play.
 
Junior goalkeeper Grace Deckert (Jarrettsville, Md./Fallston) made 11 saves in net for Holy Family after facing 30 shots by the Chargers.  The Tigers outshot the Chargers for the game by a 45-30 margin.
 
Both teams finished with 23 ground balls apiece, while the Tigers dominated the draw, controlling 22-of-33 for the game. 
 
Holy Family, the CACC Regular Season Champion, will be the top-seed in next week's conference tournament.  The Tigers received a bye in the first round and will automatically advance to the semifinals scheduled for Saturday, April 25 at Georgian Court University.  More information on the CACC Tournament will be available early next week.
