Tigers Fall to Goldey-Beacom in Regular Season Finale




Philadelphia, Pa. - Senior Luiz Ristow scored three goals for Goldey-Beacom College as the Lightning came away with a 4-0 victory over the Holy Family University men's soccer team in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) regular season finale on Tuesday afternoon at Tiger Field.
 
Holy Family concludes its season with a 5-8-5 overall record and 2-7-3 mark in the CACC, while Goldey-Beacom improves to 8-9-0 overall and wraps up conference play with a 6-6-0 record.
 
Ristow recorded his first career hat-trick as he opened the scoring in the 36th minute to give the Lightning a 1-0 lead.  He doubled the team's lead in the 43rd minute with another goal connecting from 20-yards out to increase the lead to 2-0.
 
In the second half, Ristow scored his third goal of the game as he controlled a header attempt by freshman Mateus Silverstre and found the back of the net.  Ristow's third score in the 54th minute made the score 3-0. 
 
The Lightning tacked on one more score in the 83rd minute when freshman Fernando Sanchez converted a penalty kick attempt after a Holy Family foul inside the box.
 
Holy Family managed 11 shots on the afternoon, including a team-high three by senior Kevan Melly (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham).  Senior Justin Massaro (Warminster, Pa./William Tennent) had two shots on goal, while fellow classmate Alex Bilay (Philadelphia, Pa. (Ukraine)/Central) totaled a pair of shots with one on target.
 
Senior Nick Aglira (Churchville, Pa./Archbishop Wood) made two saves in net for the Tigers in 77:21 minutes of action.  Sophomore Dylan Rutledge (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) relieved Aglira late in the second half and made one save in 12:39 minutes.
 
Holy Family held the advantage on corner kicks by a 5-2 margin.
